1. Have a look at your lifestyle
There may be various factors that play a role in the life that you are leading. These aspects may be taking away from you the ability to focus and concentrate appropriately.
Do you feel weak and tired, so you cannot concentrate properly? That could be because you are not having enough sleep, or you are not exercising, your diet may be unbalanced - either not eating enough or eating plenty of junk food - or perhaps you are overworked, stressed out or even burnt out.
Take a lifestyle check. See where you can improve on it.
2. What is your purpose?
Ask yourself a few simple questions to get your brainstorming session going. Questions such as: What is important to me right now? Is my job important to me? Is my relationship with my partner or spouse important to me? Is getting that promotion what I really want? How important is it for me to attend next week's event?
Get the idea? Ask the questions that pertain to you. Seek out what is important for you.
3. Set your objectives
Having goals and objectives is what gets us going, what motivates us to reduce watching TV and socialising with friends.
Objectives provide a clear focus on where you want to go and it excites within you the enthusiasm to pursue that goal. You will have a reason for getting up earlier in the mornings, for staying up a little later at night, or for putting the extra hour or two at the weekend.
Find your purpose, your objective for getting things done. Bring in some excitement into the project you are working on; become enthusiastic about it, then make it your priority to get it done, and find ways to enjoy working at it.
And when you finish that task, reward yourself with a well-earned five-minute break or pat on the back. Just reward yourself with something that really pleases you.
